Early Interceptive Orthodontics – we do not believe in starting early treatment for every young patient, instead, we perform early (phase 1) treatments only when indicated, as interceptive treatment aimed at addressing a developing problem at an early stage.

How Do Minimally Invasive Clear Aligners Work?

The aligners are removable and made of a durable, smooth, clear plastic. This means orthodontic treatment can be comfortable and convenient for your lifestyle—there are no food or drink restrictions, brushing and flossing can be done normally, and there are no wires or brackets to deal with.

You’ll get a set of custom-made aligners to fit only you, and each aligner will be worn for one week before switching to the next aligner in the sequence. Every two months or so, the orthodontist will see you for a progress evaluation until your treatment is complete.

Our Process

1. Initial Consultation

Dr. Badawi will complete a comprehensive orthodontic examination to determine whether clear aligners are right for you. You can even view your own virtual treatment plan to see the end result before starting treatment!

2. Custom Treatment Plan

Now that you’ve decided to get clear aligners, our Smile Elements team will take x-rays, pictures, and digital impressions of your teeth using an iTero scanner. Dr. Badawi will use this information to develop a detailed treatment plan, including each individual tooth movement and the approximate treatment length. A 3D virtual representation of your treatment plan will show you how your teeth are expected to move at each stage of the treatment.

3. (6-9 months) Active Clear Aligner Phase (Full-time)

A set of custom-made aligners will be fabricated for you. When you come in for the delivery appointment, our team will show you how to wear the aligners and how to care for them. You will get a series of trays to keep at home where you can switch the old tray for the new as you progress through the stages of movement.

4. (6-9 months) Active Retention (Night-time)

At this stage, you will continue to switch through your aligners, at a slower rate and by just wearing your clear aligners at night.

5. Treatment Completion & Passive Retention

Congratulations on achieving your goal of a beautiful new smile! In order to keep your teeth in place, Dr. Badawi will design a set of retainers personally for you. By wearing them as recommended, your teeth will stay in their correct positions.
